Had a job up in Sidney yesterday, which had me driving home later in the day, when I caught this empty oil can bound from Glendive to Williston, ND.

Yesterday morning also, and this guy was doing a little switching, while fouling the mainline. PIC_0977.JPG
And later in the day another train was doing some switching, and the sunset reflections were just neat,

On Wed, the 8th, the yard was fairly empty on the east end, giving an unusual view of town and eastbound power from this angle,
    PIC_0967.JPG
Same power form the town/mainstreet side.

Still see a few around, and they are purty! Would be neat to see a white face, white stripe on a new -9.

The start of a good day of railfanning on a trip to Billings and back.Thought it was a good start to see the Z train getting set to leave, and with KCS on head end with a couple of un-marred BN hoppers! PIC_0989.JPG PIC_0992.JPG PIC_0993.JPG
And then a video of the first vid of the day, at the west switch of Hathaway,

Then caught this second coal train eastbound just west of Forsyth, which had an almost empty yard.

The next catch was just near Worden, MT and Jones Junction. This train was waiting, and I spotted the NOT orange loco, STOP for pics, PIC_0999.JPG PIC_0001.JPG

Then later in the day while headed back, I got this standing grain train at Pompeys Pillar siding,
    PIC_0002.JPG PIC_0004.JPG

Then proceeding east, got this westbound grain,

And finally home to a nearly empty yard, which gave a view of the deadline of 70MAC's and this FURX GP38-2, PIC_0012.JPG

I hear a lot of wheels pounding away anymore. And see a lot of them getting changed out here on the RIP track.

Same here in BNSF's Auburn Yard. Two to three grain trains are usually in the yard, and they are constantly pulling out "bad order" cars for changing out wheel sets. They even built a new covered area just for this!

This train full of DIT (Dead in tow) SD70MAC's was having issues with it's air, which is common in cold weather getting DIT sets to play nice. Here's some pics where they were sitting half out of the yard/half on the main. A video follows where they got our of the yard, then dynamited the air again!

Ooops, next post for those. The boxcar is sitting near the main, thought I would investigate while waiting for train to move...

Here sits the power just a few cars out onto the mainline, everything behind 9782 is DIT. 9782 was in my video from earlier as the lead on a coal train. This is neat that the lead on this train is a BNSF, followed by a SF warbonnet then a Grinstein green!
    PIC_0025.JPG PIC_0026.JPG PIC_0028.JPG PIC_0029.JPG PIC_0030.JPG

And the video of the movement,

Sat morning, I caught this LONG freight switching out some cars off the rear of the train. In these photos, the head end is fouling the east end of the main, probably a half miles worth, up over the hump and around the corner. in the video at the end, the train is backing down into the yard after setting out some tanks. PIC_0043.JPG PIC_0044.JPG PIC_0046.JPG

This video is long, with a lot of different cars, as backing in is a slow process.

Yesterday morning saw heavy wet popcorn snow, so I had to go hunting for opportunities! Here, this set of power was exiting the service track and getting on it's train. After going around, the snow made for some interesting pics of the two MOW pieces sitting in the way.
