I have recently been contacted for a Conductor interview testing in Grand Junction, CO. I was looking for any advice from the experts or anyone that has gone through the process.
Tell the truth in your interview, don't claim anything or any skill you cannot authenticate. Be clean & sober, wear clean clothing in good repair, business casual is always good. Don't wear a T-shirt or any article of clothing with an obscene message or advertising any tobacco or alcohol. Make sure your hair is clean & groomed and that your hairstyle is not "extreme"(neon colors, mohawk, spikes etc.) If facial hair is part of your physical description, be sure it is neat and trimmed. Dont try to answer any questions with an answer you think that the interviewers want to hear. If you have any particular talents or awards be sure to include them on your application and/or C.V.(Eagle Scout, Chauffer's license, diplomas or certifications from trade schools etc). If you are a military veteran have a copy of your DD-214 handy. Go for it! Break a leg(figuratively speaking!)! Charlie
Charlie, Thank you, I have been reading past threads as well and all of the information has been a huge help. One question about college transcripts; Can they be a faxed copy or do they need to be in a sealed envelope from the University? I will keep everyone posted as I go in next Tuesday.
Grand Junction! My Cousin is a Fire Captain out there. I worked out of Denver but never got to go "Over the mountain" to GJ. Dont know about your transcripts. Call and ask HR just so you have the right info.Good luck!
I picked mine up from the school. They put it in a sealed envelope. The school knew how to handle situations like that. I gave it to the HR wonk, it was acceptable to them. I suppose the RR would accept a fax sent directly by the school, I think you would have to check with them first though!
Thank you, you both have been a big help as well as this site itself. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.
