According to a post on "Locophotos.com" All the BN schemed SD70MAC's stored in Alliance NE, are to be sold to our southern friends. As the video shows, there are tons of them. Sad to see, these were nice looking units, in the past, and still today. -Jose Lopez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfFpMH1gkKw
Drat. That andthe warbonnet was the best scheme They have (Well, that and the one 4449 carried, or maybe it was the engine that puklled that one off)
Hmm, I didn't see this on Loconotes yet. Someone did ask why they were all stored there, but coal loads are down. A big batch of 70MACs went down there a month or so ago, but those weren't sales, those were units BNSF owned that they were then leasing themselves. Any Road Numbers?
Leased MAC's Well most of those are going SOUTH, but they might have to wait awhile. Seems as though we are now storing GE EVOS ALL of them NEEDING wheels... Someone forgot to think about needing wheels sets. YEP NO WHEELSETS TILL August(probably September). There NONE in the US or Canada. Might be alittle reprive for MACS.
Aw man!!!... I remember those bad boys brand new at Clyde yard (Cicero) back in 94' (wow I'm gettin old). They'd load test'em there and there wasn't a hoodlum with there car stereo within a mile that could out do the bassy reverberations those put out. Even better was when they left town, the end of the train would clear the yard right as the front end got to Harlem Ave...throtle up and set off car alarms several blocks away in Berwyn and Riverside....good times.
