BN BN autoracks (update 10/8 - pics)

Anyone have pics (if they even existed) of BN OPEN style autoracks? Or BN pre-merger ones?

There are no open autoracks in the Morning Sun BN Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment book. In the Morning Sun CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, there is a photo of a CB&Q autorack 10 years after merger still painted CB&Q. I have not found any indication that BN ever had any autoracks on their own flat cars. They were all on Trailer Train flats. Since the racks inherited from CB&Q, GN and NP (if any, I know next to nothing about NP) were not on BN cars, I suspect that there was little if any effort made to repaint these racks. Probably they were not repainted until they were shopped by TTX and given side panels. The Frisco autoracks (also on TTX flats) also went many years unpainted after the merger. Likewise I have not seen any pre-merger autoracks painted for BNSF except for those on BNSF (nee ATSF, one of the few roads that had racks on their own flats) owned flats. Repainting new road names on an autorack is probably not very high on TTX's priorities. Thus I would guess that there were very few, if any, open racks ever painted for BN.

 

I figured the same... but I'm freelance and I love BN green on anything - so it was only a matter of time.

Did you notice my oil storage tanks are green too... I wonder what logo will be on those???

 

If you look very closely, you'll see there's 2 of them (with the yellow base) in the group shot...middle row back two. I'll get a closeup tonight.

 

Pics as requested... not sure if I got the decals in the right spots or not, mainly just guessed.
