Strike averted on Indiana Harbor Belt Indiana Harbor Belt and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees reached a tentative agreement over the weekend, averting a strike that could have taken place as early as this evening. The Class 1 freight railroads had developed contingency plans to deal with the strike, which would have caused major headaches in Chicago, particularly for finished vehicle traffic
