I am just wondering if anyone has an opinion on the detail and quality of Bluford Shops 70 ton hoppers. Are the pretty comparable to Atlas hoppers as far as detail goes (I don't care for their super wide/deep ladders on the car ends), or is there a distinct improvement. I'm trying to lengthen my Rio Grande/SP unit coal train, but their price is a bit higher than the Atlas or Athearn 90/100 ton hoppers. The pictures on their website don't show too much detail either; http://www.bluford-shops.com/ Also, how recently were the DRGW 70 ton coal hoppers still in service? Although I know that the 90/100 ton cars are still used by UP in unit coal service, I'd imagine that the 70 ton hoppers are no longer used. Did they make it into the 1990's? Thanks, Nate
I reserved a pack from my dealer, but have not received them. AFAIK, without checking, these were retired in the 90's. My books are all at home, so I'll check later, unless someone else beats me to it!
