No worries George and Doug, 9.60 shipping comes to 135.60 or around 20 bucks a car. I'm just glad to have them for the 28' trailers. Prior to this the only option was micro trains or Alan Curtis kits.

I will take some BLMA trailers in any length! No if's but only when's. Picking mine up tomorrow at post office because I wasn't here to get package and dogs would have played with them on the concrete. Can't wait to get them.

Just pick up 3#s from my LHS thats all they had. These look great!!!! But a couple of questions. Do these have the new wheels in them or do I need to switch them out, since I'm running on my club layout with 20+ trear old track??

If anyone is still looking for these or missed out on the pre-order, I have two dozen of them that I just posted in Trainstore.

I messed up and ordered/paid for them before I realized they were too new for my era.

Nick, near as I can tell they use the original (strictly scale and excellent) BLMA wheel - I mic'd em and they matched...

Thanks Jim. I guess I'll wait and see how they run and keep some MTL wheels in the box just in case.

    All,

I was just advised by another member that the legitimacy of 24 BLMA flats that I have for sale in the Trainstore was being questioned on another forum.

Apparently there was a recent theft of 24 of these cars from a local shop here in the Pittsburgh area around the same time that I posted my ad, so naturally the implication was that I must be the thief and was using the Trainstore to fence stolen merchandise.

I can assure you that this is not the case and I have revised my ad to show the invoice, as well as the two sales receipts from DCC Train in Cincinnati where I purchased the cars.

The above image clearly shows the invoice, as well as the two sales receipts, the first dating back over two years to April of 2010 when I put down a deposit on the pre-order, then the second as final payment last Saturday when the cars shipped.

As previously mentioned, I simply made an error and I'm now looking to resell them at a fair price to recoup what I have invested in them and to fund the era-appropriate variants that I currently have ordered.

I hope this clears up any speculation regarding the origins of these items.

If you dont believe BLMA cars are the most accurate cars made, look at the decks. Per prototype number, some have steel risers on the decks, and some do not. Now thats paying attention to detail!! :)

I have road number 601967 which does not have the steel riser, and the number 602068 which does.

Has anyone set their cars up for triple 28 trailers yet?
Photos of said cars? Can hitches be obtained separately?
What is minimum suggested radius for these cars? I'm thinking the 11"
on my work in progress layout probably not the best!
Looking at first car tonight, the cars are beautiful.
Would love to see more photos of cars, loaded and empty in action.
If anyone has photos to share!
    As always, information much appreciated.
    Thanks.

I bought 6 myself and must say that they are very nice. I am really impressed. They are very detailed, but unlike some N scale cars that are highly detailed, it doesn't appear that there are parts at risk of getting bumped and falling off, or a fear of finding loose parts in the box when you first open the model.

Here is a photo with 3 pup trailers. The kingpins are very large on the trailers, so I either need to trim them or drill the hole bigger on the hitches, which as already been discussed. I simply set these on the layout the first night I got them, so that is why the trailers are riding high in front. I haven't actually operated them, but they roll perfectly, and appear to want to operate flawlessly.

As far as radius, I have recently collected some 86' boxcars, and was a bit concerned when they came ready to run with body mounted couplers. I was concerned that they would be finicky in curves. Of course, I don't have what I would consider "tight" radius curves, but I was very surprised how well a long car with body mounted couplers operated when attached to a shorter 50' box. I guess one positive thing about the flatcars is that the coupler shank is fairly long which should help it through tighter curves. Anyway, I posted some photos on my blog which illustrate what an 86' and 50' box look like on a 15" curve. This might help ease the concern about body mounted couplers on the 89' flats. www.nscaleaddiction.blogspot.com
