I have 2 Atlas SD35's which I installed the Soundtraxx Atl100lc sound decoders in. I installed the yellow glow LED's in there for headlights. The LED's will blink on and off ocasionally on the trailing end of the unit. This is a common problem with LED's and these decoders. A person I ran into at the last operating session said he fixed his through playing with the CV's. He didn't (of course) say what he did. Anybody out there have experience with this. It would be nice to stop the blinking is possible. Oh, when the lights are turned on on the head end, they are fine. It is just when the lights are off that they come on ocasionally. Thanks.

I doubt it can be fixed with CVs - the Soundtraxx instructions do say you shouldn't use LEDs with these. I have some and where I used an LED (I forgot they said don't) I have this problem.

It looks like it might be to be to do with which speed step the motor is running in; it looks like the LED goes on in alternate steps or something.

I did play around with different resistor/capacitor combinations to try and reduce the effect, but never got anywhere. Sorry, I'm not being much help; but at least you aren't alone :)

Did you get an answer to this problem? There is documentation out there on how to fix this problem. If you have not found it or still have the problem please reply and I will help you out. I knew about this problem before I even installed this decoder its really a simple fix with an extra 1500 ohm resistor and a capacitor. I can not remember what capacitor it is off the top of my head but I will find out.

    I'd be interested Paul.

I had a play around with resistors/capacitors on one of mine, but didn't get a worthwhile result; so if there is a permutation that works I could certainly use it :)

This picture was taken from Litchfield Station. His setup was slightly different then mine but mine works just fine. I relabled all the components like I used them. Also mine was done with golden white leds, but this should work the same for any led.

If I remember I will post my work up of this. Hope this helps.

    Paul.

I'll give that a try sometime.
