The Black Hills MagLev operation is the test bed for a new type of rail system where trains can go from regular tracks to magnetic ones and back seamlessly. This system will also enable railroads to climb cliffs easily (at a slant, for now). The only issue so far is how to maintain the trains stuck to the side of the cliff if the power fails...
They did make a tiny mention of that potential drawback......but quickly moved on to other subjects! Guess they didn't want any panic!
