A blowdown? When did this occur? i don't remember a blowdown on the Big Trees. But then again, it was like 20 years ago I rode it. Do they still have the old burned trestle up there? Or has it been rebuilt or torn down?
I remember the blowdown next to the pond before returning to the depot, and the car host or conductor remarking over the PA, "Those are the cleanest ducks in northern California" or something similar to that, back in the 1990's. :tb-biggrin:
Yup, right next to the pond. Very cool. On my trip 14 yrs ago, I didn't realize they did this and was standing a little too near. Almost got steamed alive. Not sure about the trestle, I still havn't rode the train up the hill.
