I currently have four Bachmann Amfleet coaches that I'm trying to get into running condition. Since there are no other passenger car options out there (Hint, hint Atlas and Kato...), not running them isn't an option. What can I do to make them run and look better? I've already disassembled them and removed the toy-like lighting system. I have plans of blanking out the center windows of one and making it into a food-service car. Any thoughts on improving their performance and appearance? Any help would be much appreciated!

First thing I did was to remove the trucks and replace them with better running ones.

Now, all the rivet counters can just stop for a moment. I realize that the Amfleet coaches did not have outside sideframes. However, this led to SIGNFICANTLY better running.

Second, I added some weight on the bottom of the floor of the coach, on the underside. This also helped them track better.

Finally, MT couplers were added. Only, I don't remember which ones, I had several assembled ones in the parts bin. I shimmed them to the right height and used contact cement to glue them to the body.

They look great....now if I could only find someone to install a decoder in a LL F40ph for me.
