this is a little after the start of what is going to be a mopac sd40 without the dynamic brakes. for some reason kato keeps forgetting to do this version so i have to do it myself i shot these today after i got the lift rings installed and the dynamic blister removed.
Very nice Mopac! I removed the Dynamic Brakes from a GP-38 almost the same way. A month later, Atlas came out with 38's minus Dynamics! Russ
I remember years ago doing the DB-ectomy to a LL GP38-2, and I don't think I've done that much sanding any other time (except for refinishing the kitchen cabinets. Strangely enough, my models have never liked the Mouse sander). Kudos on your patience and diligence!
Another double-post! I get error messages that lead me to believe my post failed, then I get it twice instead! Of course, I edited this duplicate post so it contains my ranting instead! But I won't continue to distract from the original post and will continue by saying that that is a fantastic job! There's nothing better than a good kitbash, in my opinion, and you've certainly took one on there! Russ [ 25. March 2003, 07:50: Message edited by: tehachapifan ]
Excellent kitbash mitch, but that black paint is a little on the light side isn't it?? I'd swear it's blue...... Since mitch is my exclusive painter and kitbasher, you will understand why I don't paint or kitbash I'll assemble AC's wellkits and flats, but they go to mitch as soon as possible!!!! I'm in LOVE with my HH sd40-2's !! awesome dude, just awesome!!
Looks great... I like the effects you got of dirt on the top surfaces. Dave D. Mitch I must say you are at a new low in your detailing adventures. Now you are doing oil slicks. What is next?????Any way the engine looks great and once again you have taken your engines to a even more detailed level. And I thought when you first applied windshield wipers and sunshades it was getting bad.........
FYI, i was able to see this unit a few hours ago as we were setting up for a N-trak display. Funny how those guys with needles were chasing me as I was foaming at the mouth S W E E T !!!
well apparently ed wasn't the only one foaming at the mouth, for the first time since they started the model contest at the urbana trainshow, oh about 10 years or so, an n scale loco finally won the diesel category.!!!!!!!
Whoa thats fantastic Mitch so my new locos are from an award winning modeller Congratulations on such a fantastic model
