I've been trying to find the option to begin reading a thread at the beginning, rather than at the latest post. It's a bit confusing to click on a thread with several pages of posts, and get taken to the very last post, which leave me scratching my head, and trying to find page one. For some strange reason, this only seems to be an issue with the railroad-oriented vbulletin forums I belong to (other forums default to page 1 and post 1). I have posed this question on the other forums, and so far, no one has an answer. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what page you are viewing; I normally use "24 Hours of TrainBoard." If you click on the thread title, it takes you to the beginning of the thread. If you click on the arrow next to the member making the last post (on the right side of the page), it takes you to the last post.

Are you clicking on the little down icon next to the name of the thread? That takes you to new messages.... Just click on the subject line and it should start at the first message unless there are some user preferences in play.

No, I know if I click the little arrow, it will take me to the latest post. The problem is when I click on the thread title, I wind up at the last post as well. I've tried this with all 3 major browsers, and still no joy.
It happens with both the 24 hours of Trainboard, as well as the portal page.

    Thread Display Options

Can I change the order of threads?
You have a choice over how you view threads. When you're in a thread, look at the top bar. On the right hand side you'll see 'Display Mode'. Click on this and it lets you change how posts are ordered.
    You have three choices:
Linear Mode - posts are displayed chronologically, usually from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously. It is possible to change the ordering by changing your preferences in the User CP
Threaded Mode - a tree is shown along with every post. This shows you the relationship each post has to the others. It's easy to see who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time. By clicking on a single post in the post tree, the page will show that post and all posts made in response to it.
Hybrid Mode - This is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed as in the threaded mode, but many posts are shown at the same time as in the linear modes.

    Hope this helps!

I just checked, and my options are set up for linear mode. I did notice something strange: I was at a local store that happened to have WiFi. Just for S&G, I pulled out my laptop, and logged in here. I clicked on a multi-page thread, and the thread displayed from page one, post one. I came back to my house, and tried here, with the laptop: Newest post first, last page first. Could my ISP be doing something stupid? Everything else was the same. I even have my password saved, so I didn't even have to enter that. It's a little thing, kind of like that mosquito that keeps buzzing around your ear when you're in bed...
