Got this off the CN website. Thought those of you that model CN would benefit from this info about train ID's changing . http://www.cn.ca/productsservices/BCRail/en_BCRail.shtml?ad=111M
Normally I don't cheer for an American take over of a Canadian company; however in this instance it would have been more beneficial to British Columbia if BNSF had won the bid - the "questionable" bid. The reason I say this is that very few workers would have been laid off, compared to the army that has been let go, including a friend of mine. BNSF bid through OmniTrax. BNSF receives - or did receive - around 60 to 80 cars a day from BC Rail. Because BNSF doesn't have the infra-structure to run BC Rail, it would have had to maintain much of what was already in place. Because CN does have infra-structure in BC, employees were let go. Its always sad when I drive by the North Vancouver passenger station and the steam shop which maintained the Royal Hudson, the 3716 Consolidation, and worked on the 2816.
