What is the status of BC Rail today? Does it still exist?

Wish I could find some more definitive answers. The little bit that I can gather, am sure it's gone forever. Although there were complaints from labor groups, and I believe some actions in courts of law, I'll bet that CNR has simply bullied their way through it all, and didn't slow down for a second.

    This is the legal stuff.

    CN's viewpoint
    A CN history of BCR.

The newspapers have reported that the "operations" of BCR have been transferred to CN. No mention of capital assets.

The railfans in my area all agree that the BCR should never have been sold. The provincial BC government had promised not to "sell" BCR. And from what we hear from BC railfans, they feel betrayed. There is an ongoing police investigation into the sale, as there may have been unethical business practices followed, and an MPP may have leaked sensitive material prior to the final sale.

Another thorn was that the passenger service was cancelled. The passenger train from Prince George to North Vancouver was rated the most scenic train ride in the world. We have travelled this route, and the scenery was breathtaking. For much of the journey you could hear a pin drop in the RDC's - people were in awe. And many times there were Ohhhh's and Ahhhh's as we passed over a particularly scenic section. One of our trips to BC was to ride the train before it was cancelled.
