Hi Santa Fe fans. I haven't been to Barstow for a few years and was wondering how the restoration of the depot was going? Seems like the last time I saw it the exterior looked real good. Has anything been done with the interior? Are there any plans to open a restored Harvey House restaurant there? Thanks.
I haven't been there since '99, but I did a little research and it seems that the museum is now open. Below is a link to the Barstow Museum website. Take a look... Western America Rail Museum I haven't been able to review the site, but it looks to have some good information.
Kevin, thanks for the link. Looks like they have done a lot, but since the museum occupies the space once taken up by "Casa Del Desierto" I guess we won't see a Harvey House there soon. Nice to see Wyman is still around. There was a Harvey Girl on the "California Ltd" trip in 1991. She may have been one of the three shown in the museum spread. Man, WARM has sure done a lot of work on the 2921, too. Amazing how much you miss when you move away from CA.
