I tried to paint with this stuff(GN Big Sky Blue). the first bottle went on Great, then once that bottles gone(98ish). Their paint would no longer paint. I know they had changed their paint formula. Badger swears up and down to this day that they have not changed their formula. I have been painting long enough to notice that kind of a difference. An example would be that the. Paint once airbrushed on would pull away from edges, it would separate also immediatley once you stopped shaking it. It would bead up like water on a waxed surface and would not stick to anything. I messed with pressures. I even had the guy whom taught me how to paint check it out. We both agree it is their paint formula. I tried to give it a fair shake,I just can't make Badger paint work. So I now use Scale Cote and Tru Color Paint. Will finish up using the remainder of my Floquil and Polly Scale and switch to Tru Color...

Wow, sorry to hear that. I've been using ModelFlex on and off for about 10 years and never had anything like what you just described happen. Not disagreeing, just saying I've been fortunate that it hasn't happened. I have two bottles of GN Big Sky Blue in the paint shop and they still work well after 3 years. Did this engine with it about 6 weeks ago.

Have you had multiple bottles do that or just one? I've had my share of the dreaded hockey puck show up from hobby shops before, so I know it happens.

I also limit my paint storage to about 4 years before it gets recycled...I mark the caps with the date I purchased them and then montior from there. Had some Polly Scale and Modelflex go bad after only one year, so just chalk it up as a loss.

Super job on the locomotive Brian! The paint certainly went on well for that one. What a great color scheme. :)

I am glad it wasn't just me that had this same problem. I thought it was something I was doing with air pressure. Like you, I also messed with air pressure, same result. After 3 attempts of trying to get BOTH colors of that CRAP to paint right, I chucked the bottle in the big round file. I will NEVER buy that stuff again. A total waste of my heart earned $$$$$.

First, that is a SUPERIOR Paint Job! I have been through about 18 bottles and I have given up on it. I wished it would paint better, cause the color for BSB is SPOT ON!

I have been through about 18 bottles trying to get to work, thought mayby a bad batch of paint. I had badger pull paint from three different batches, same thing. I know for a fact the formula is different, Badger won't admit it. If they would go back to the other formula I would go back to badger for my paint needs, cause I like the water based paints better(better for enviroment and clean up). So now with Testors doing thier thing I will have to dive deeper into solvent based paints...NOT what I want to do. I have kids now that like to airbrush and would prefer them to use water based paints and get used to how they work, clean up, shooting the paint that kinda stuff. Anyway unless Badger has changed their formula back, I will stay with the solvent based paints for now.
