Excellent work Paul. I just finished going over your website again. Lots of inspiring photos there, as always! Keep up the great work!
You are such an inspiration Paul, the log pond looks so realistic, your works keeps me motivated to keep plugging away at mine.
OK Paul, I accept that you use varnish for the protective finish coats, but how do you create the froth, ripples, etc. that make it so realistic? P.S. It looks FANTASTIC!
Hi all, I first painted the base of the pond a flat black, waited till it was dry (Overnight) then add Yacht varnish with a brush. Once the first two coats were dry, I added a third coat and at the same time put in a little Black/green water based paint and brushed the Yacht varnish and paint together. Once this had almost dried I added white paint along the sides of the logs adding a little yacht varnish at the same time. Before this dried (Tacky) I again added a little white and varnish moving the brush in a circular fashion to create the effect you see in the photo. It took around four days to complete it, but worth it in the end.
