I recently finished painting a Bachmann S4, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I'd like to replace the couplers, preferably with MTL couplers, but their site doesn't seem to be working for the Bachmann page. Would anyone know the best coupler for it?
(The photo may be upside down...just ignore that. :D )

    Looks like it's got Magne-traction.

Looking at the photo of the insides of the S4 shell on Spookshow's site, I would think either a 1015 or a 2004 would fit but it would depend on the height of the coupler after it was installed. If the 1015 is too low then the offset shank of the 2004 would raise it. Conversely if the 2004 coupler is too high then the 1015 would lower the coupler. Bachmann's two other switchers, the 44 ton and the 70 ton, take a 2004 and a 1015 respectively. You may have to file some off the coupler box opening to get the MT coupler to fit. If so, file the bottom of the coupler opening.

    I used the 1015.
You must remove the screw mounting post and (As Inkaneer stated) widen the "pocket" -- but, it works. Not as close coupling as I would prefer.

One of mine -- Sorry, for the crappy photo!!
