Greetings, I am new to H.O. and DCC, I purchased a Bachmann Thunder Chief starter set and want to run it on a shelf in my basement, the size of the layout will be a rectangle roughly 18' x 11'. I plan to run a consist with two DCC diesels with sound, my question, is there a limit to the size of the layout the system can handle? As a note I also have a NCE power cab, but am using that for a smaller layout in another room. I thought the EZ-Command would be a simpler solution for the basement as I will mount the controller on the wall near the light switches that anyone can operate. Thanks in advance, Gary
I had the Bachman’s Dynamis IR System. It put out 3 amps. If you are running a simple layout for round and round, you ought to be fine. Maybe a few locomotives. If you are getting into MU and a lot of spurs and such it probably will present you some issues. I would be sure to use plenty of feeders up to the rails. When we started operating the layout heavily, I converted to Digitrax with the duplex throttles. I use the simple ones that just dial in the locomotive and have function buttons.
EZ-command is a 1amp system. 2 Diesels with sound might stress it a bit. If you have problems running your consist, that could be the problem.
