I do not know about this one but after reading different threads here. It all depends on what you want it to do. Because the final decision lays in your hand. We can all give you advice and tell you what you schould do but in the end only what you feel will be right for the circumstances that you want it to do on your layout will be up to you. I am sure some one on this board has used it. After much good advice from many people i went with a Lenz Set 100. and am very happy with it. Hope this helps.

I am on the beginning stages of a layout. (See Link) I was looking into DCC for that layout.

I am building N-16 from the same book as you. I use to have a atlas commander but it did not do what i wanted . I now have a set100 which great. It do's all that i want and then some . THeir are pictures at my rail images accout at railimages.com/gallery/alanmorgan. It will control my turn outs from the hand held and you you cant set the amps as well.

How many loco's are you going to run? If it's less than 10 EZ command is a very good buy because it's so cheap. Why do you want DCC? Unless you want advanced features EZ command is great.

I am using about 4 or 5 loco's. I was thinking DCC because you drive the train and not the track. Interesting consept.

    Cripp12:

The Bachmann EZ Command DCC system is very limited in its features.

You'll probably move on to a more powerful system after a reasonably short period of time.

There is more to DCC than running trains individually.

You have to research the systems thoroughly before you can make an educated choice of which system is right for you. You must look into all the different options available.

Stay cool and run steam.... [IMG]

it helps if you know someone close by who has that system, and can guide you "hands on" instead of the ether world we are in. just from my experience...

I own it and it isn't as limited as people say. You get 10 functions (lights, sound, etc.), can make all the consists you'll ever need with 5 engines, and Bachmann is supporting it with a full line of products (power booster, walkaround cab, accessory controller). The MR DCC guide is wrong at many points about this system. It's maximum # of cabs isn't 2. It can handle 3 easily so I'm sure many more can be added. It does support accessory decoders even though MR says it can't. I don't see why anyone with 10 engines or less would get tired quickly with this system.

Just got one of these to test DCC locos that I buy, seems to work pretty well. I got what I wanted for the price. One Question, Can you do any lighting FX with it other than turn on and off? I am running All Atlas locos with factory decoders, in N Scale.

    Thanks
    Brad
