    All,

I've recently been playing with DCC++ and an inexpensive Bachmann DCC Equipped GP40.

Using DecoderPro, I can drive the train--it identifies as a 2 or 4 function Bachmann EZCommand decoder. Great. Forward, Backward.. Great.

Lights, no. It has LED's front and rear, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to activate them. I also can't figure out how to reset the decoder to be sure it's defaulted--The only decoder selection that gives me access to read CV8 is 4-function, but this was pretty cheap loco, so I doubt thats correct. Even there, I can only read CV8 (101) and CV7 (46)..I can't write to them.

I've scoured the internet and haven't come up with anything specific to what I'm doing.. so, has someone here seen this?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Ussually you write 8 to CV8. Some decoders use 4 instead of 8. Decoder address should now be 3 if it worked. In general CV8 is write only except for writing a 8 for reset. If you use JMRI's throttle, F0 should toggle the lights. In the Function tab of JMRI ProDecoder you can also see how the lights and function keys are set up. Lights tab you also have control over how the lights are used/ setup or even switched of against the function keys.

Look on Bachman's www for the decoders manual to see the standard setup for the Cvs.

Well.. dang. I thought I had tried everything, and read carefully. Looking at https://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/ez_content/1_Amp_Decoder_Instr.pdf, I coudn't see how to reset the loco decoder, but, I fussed with the lights yet again. I forced CV51 to 0 (it was 0) and then set CV52 to 255, and F0 did, in fact, light it. I swear I had done that once before, at least, but, potentially I was battling cached CV info in DecoderPro (I'm wondering if I remembered to confirm that the CV were written).

Thanks for the thump in the melon to go re-read the docs :).
