We have recently got a second hand Bachman DDA40X. However, 1 important part missing from the train is the handrails. All that is present on the model is the handrails on the front left hand side. I have written to Bachman to try and obtain a replacement set but without success.

Does anybody out there know where I can get a COMPLETE set of replacement hand rails for this loco as I am at my wits end trying to find them!!!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can suggest anything.

    Handrails for DD-40

To replace the handrails you might use .015 brass or piano wire and bend your own and use Athearn stanchions. Brass wire is more forgiving than piano wire when it comes to correcting wrong bends. Piano wire is usually a one time bend but the wire is more durable. Take your choice. Use the existing handrails as a pattern to bend the "new" wire ones.
On the diesels I have some have plastic/rubber handrails and those just fall apart in a short time. So I use them as a pattern and make wire replacements. Athearn stanchions work fine for EMD locomotives but those from Alco require stanchions from PSC or Smokey Valley. Hope this helps.
