I'm at the point of laying the track and bridges on my fictitious 6X3 foot B&M layout. When I was growing up in Concord NH, there was a bridge that spanned the Merrimack and was parrallel to I93. The Boston & Maine crossed on the east side and a two lane road was paralell on the west side sharing the bridge. The road at one time went from Concord to East Side then on to Penacook and Canturbury. The road was abandoned when I93 was built in the 1960's I think. Currently the rail sees limited service from New England Southern. Does anyone have info or pics on this bridge? I would love to model it on my N scale layout.

    7173,
I suggest you post this on the B&M Historical Society Forum website.

BTW, I remember that bridge vividly from 50 years ago, and I know that line (and bridge) was still active in the early 80's. I think I read on the B&M Forum a few years ago that there was still a weekly unscheduled local up to Contoocook, and maybe on to Laconia, but I'm not sure if that is still true today.

    Good Luck.... [IMG]

Thanks Hank, will do. I used to stop in to the B&M society every now and then when I lived in Concord. What I would give to see a brace of 4265 & 4267 in maroon and gold trugging along that bridge next to old DeSoto's.

I have walked the line from that bridge to Penacook many times, the signal masts are still there as well as other trackside items, line hasn't seen a blue engine in almost 20 years [IMG]
