Lajos, I remember that mock up you made a while back and quite frankly, you are not crazy, more like Dr. Frankenstien, crazy til people see what you do! I don't doubt your methods, they always work!
It sure is a beautiful locomotive. SP&S and NP had Challengers, but they had a single stack configeration. Any chance that version will be available? John
Challenger The Challengers are close to being finished. Probably by April. We will offer various UP and the one D&RGW version. This is a small run of 125 locomotives total and our first from AJIN Train Model (ATM). ATM is headed by former AJIN Precision Mfg engineers, the same ones that were responsible for the AC-12. We will try to have a price within a couple of weeks. Sincerely,
pricing of the Challengers Hi, We will post the prices within one week. There will also be a surprise or two so stay tuned. Sincerely,
Yeah, it's hard to lay out serious jack for a special piece if it is totally different than your favorite road's looks. I would really like an NP Challenger.
I'm not sure which of the coming Challengers had single or double stacks. There are some of both, road specific. Hans has all the info tho. Whoowaaa, just in time for the Z Convention. .
pricing and surprise We will post the prices for the challengers later today. We will also announce one surprise item and hope to show it all in Medford. All were originally double stacked, but Clinchfield removed one of the stacks when they took over the D&RGW units. Sincerely,

The original red 1942 version, post 1947 yellow with small lettering, yellow with large lettering (60's and 70's) and a yellow MOW version. FYI Folks: Hans mentioned that there were additional S&H fees. In the spirit of full transparency, I want to share our estimate of these fees with you so you can plan your purchase. Because these are handmade Brass units, we have to bench test each and every one of them. Frequently we have to make minor adjustments before they ship to improve performance. We also ship these fully insured by UPS or FedEx - not USPS. We also have very, very low profit margins on these locomotives. Because of this we have to charge a shipping and handling fee of $79 for the single unit and $89 for the set. Thanks for your understanding, -Rob(A) AZL
Rob: Does that mean there is no sales tax since the purchase is apparently being made in a foreign country? ....don
Is the CA-3 going to come with the correct trucks or the ones shown in the drawing? I don't need a caboose, but may find a use for the trucks.
cool, I must have missed the reefer announcement. Looking forward to that, but I don't need 12. Will 4 packs be available?
Uh, not exactly clear what you mean. Sales Tax depends on the local laws where you live, and the dealer is located. We don't have anything to do with taxes. But if we *did* then I would impose a 0.1% Tax on everything, everywhere and take half of the proceeds to design new Z items. The other half would allow me to buy several nice small countries and a private 747 to get me there.
