I got my BNSF Bethgons today and am really impressed with them. they roll so freely that I was able to pull a dozen with my weakest puller, the Marklin Mogul, and it pulled with ease. The painting was so crisp it's unbelievable!

Robert, I was going to buy some extra Coal Porters, but I pay too much for a stripper. My LHS had a AZL for the first time, and it was a smooth runner.

Beautiful! Tunnel 4.0 on Marias Pass, just east of Belton/West Glacier.
I have shots here, not nearly as nice as this one, however.

I really don't like any of the orange paint schemes, because orange is such an ugly color compared to green. That's why I am painting my NS SD70's into SD60M's with this scheme:

I have 3 of the NS units to repaint. I will also modify the truck sideframes, sanding them flat and applying the correct ones for these units. :D

that's an N scale SD60 in the picture, isn't it? I WISH there was one of these in Z. i just bashed a (NS) SD70 shell into an SD50 for Rio Grande and had to cut and paste the railings to work (they're not perfect, but close enough).

    where are you getting sideframes?
    nice loco, robert,

Joe .. since MTL is committed to NMRA compliant wheelsets on your Z scale models, can we get the same as standard equipment on the N Scale side as well?

Wow guys! I think I had better start considering a 'Once upon a SD70' page in Ztrack! The GP35 repaint pages have been very popular. I can't wait to share with the readers what you are doing with the 70s! David, any update on the UP Rio Grande Heritage SD70ACe?

    Rob,
I think all you need is a "your models" page there where we can post our hacks and
Hans can see for his marketing :)

the second shell is essentially finished. i just have to lengthen the sill and put in the sand "spouts" (??) on the rear body. i expect to send it to Robert Ray by mid week to draw up the railings for etching and measure for decals. then it will go to Tim for mold and casting (and etching). the master shell will come back to me to finish, and people will get the copies of the shell from hobo tim.

at least that's how it's been talked out. as long as there are no glitches, we could possibly see the ACe shells early in the next year. it's all up to the others from here.

i'm particularly anxious to get the railings so i can finish the two shells i've made. one is mine and the other was sold before i could start cutting on it. i'm glad i did this kitbash.

I'm ready for my part! :D I really want to measure up the shell mostly for my WP Heritage decals, and the rail drawings are the quick part. ;)

haha! Don't get me wrong guys, I did not paint that N Scale BN SD60M shell above, that is just the target scheme I am going to use. I wish I could do something that nice! I am almost done with the decals, just got to get numbers for those that wore this paint into the BNSF era.
