Those BN units look very nice and will look great behind my BN SD40-2s. It's nice that they are coming out with two sets of four each. John
Just got a call from my LHS and he has the BN hoppers in. Plan to leave work early and pick some up. I read somewhere that there will be BNSF hoppers as well. John
I got mine, a BN set and a UP set. I can't believe the lettering. It's so tiny and so readable under magnification! The moldings are very crisp and fine, the finish is smooth, and the colors look just right! The cars weight a little more than the Will Wright hoppers, and roll very well. I put all 8 of mine on the track and gave a push, and they were free rolling with great momentum, then I stopped them with my finger, which felt a pretty strong thud of authority, meaning these trucks roll great and the cars hold good momentum to keep the train rolling! If your loco balks on you while pulling 4 or 8 of these cars, the car's momentum will definitely thump the loco back into action! The couplers really do couple easy, so no more lift and align, just use your re-railer to put the car on the track, and push it down the line, then do the next and so on. Run the loco backwards, and each car will couple automaticly, and you have a train ready to go! I am very happy with these cars!
And I got a couple special delivery a few days ago. Me and Svein-Martin visited Hans-Henrik (AZL) at his home. And we got to se quite a few goodies, many just at the prototype stage. It wil be some nice days ahead for those off us who like American trains. Most a bit more modern, but also for us who primarily like the little older stuff. The new trucks looks great and I got a hold off a pair extra that I will use for a new car that I plan on making some time soon I hope.
You can not se a fraction off stuff. The table was full. But one is the blue thingi on this picture. It's the Tank Cars - 23,000 gallon funnel flow coming soon. And that is going to be a rely nice tank-car when it is totaly finniced I think. One that I would like some off at least. Sorry for the picture my mobilephone camera is crap. And yes Jürg we are looking into getting some new location for our show, but that we can take by e-mail later on. -
Tank cars!!!! Tim I need that SD70ace shell NOOOOW!!! Montana rail link tank train!!! YES!!:tb-biggrin:
I finally had an opportunity to test run the ACF 3-Bays yesterday. I spent the afternoon with Jim Thomas at our train club. For 2 1/2 hours, I ran a mixed freight of ACF 3-Bay hoppers and 60' high-cube box cars pulled by a pair of UP SD70Ms. First, what an extreme train. I was running just under 30 cars, but it was impressive in height and look! The ACFs ran exceptionally well. In all that time, we only had one derail, and the was a high-cube on a turnout. The complete train track very well had had a wonderful sound as all of those metal wheels worked the rail. Operators, you are going to love these cars! Rob
