Howdy everyone... I have been modeling since before I was born (I have a lifetime membership to NMRA that was purchased before I was born!). Started with HO and have gotten smaller as time goes on. I have 36+ feet of N-Trak modules that have been in several national conventions. Most of this I have inherited as people in my family have grown older or lost interest. I'm now looking to do a small z scale layout for my mother who is in a nursing home. Its got 12" x 18" or working room that's in a small display table. I've got zero experience with Z scale so I'll be looking for all the ideas that I can for a micro-sized layout. Thanks y'all!

Hi Mr. D, Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board. I'm sure your Mom will enjoy an operating layout, especially if she can help you create it. Your migration of scales from HO, through N, to Z, has me wondering when you'll be modeling a sub-atomic scale using an electron microscope and robotic tools....LOL
Thank you all for your welcomes! The plan is for my mom to secretly help me build this - I'll give her some buildings to weather, some trees to make, and some people to paint, and then I'll give her the working layout for Christmas. I'm making a run to Caboose Hobbies next weekend to pick up some stuff. I imagine as I get older, I'll migrate back up thru the bigger stuff. I still remember my Dad asking me for help when I was a kid because, as he put it, I had new eyes and small fingers...
Sounds like you came into the world on the right track. Your plan sounds like a wonderful idea, I'm sure it'll be appreciated. As has been said, we have some very active Z enthusiasts who can provide answers, so fire away!
