It would vary by road name and type but, what would you guess that the avrg. run of a loco. would be? What would be the high and low? I guess I should clarify: How many locos would Atlas etc. make when they made a loco.
I've often wondered as I watched a double stack train roll by......... Honestly, I don't know where to begin. Twenty thousand for a high doesn't seem very high for mass production numbers. But are there fifty thousand of one model produced?? I know that Con Cor has a small operation manned by just a very few people. I think Micro-Trains is somewhat bigger. I think for operations such as these, a production number of five thousand seems to be realistic. I'm confusing myself! How about you?
The average size of a run of loco's might not be as large as you think. Stay cool and run steam......
For the low side, the run for a brass loco could be 100 or fewer. On the high side, I would bet maybe high hundreds or a thousand per road name/cab number. All I know is when I get around to deciding what I want, it's gone already!! Dave
I think the magic number is somewhere in the 300 range. Thats for excisting tooling for one paint scheme with offering the engine in multipul schemes
Back in the old days, Lionel Trains supposedly made more freight cars than were in the USA. Is that possible? Is that maybe correct? Did we hijack that thread?
Lionel did make an enormous amount of freight cars till the mid 1960's. The golden years were from 1950-1957. Stay cool and run steam....
Good question... I can understand how many locos Atlas does in a run a whole lot easier than some other companies, like Kato. Harold
