Came across this interesting train during one of my "theraputic" walks by the railroad tracks last Friday.
The vehicles are Railtrack autoballasters and the train was being topped and tailed by two Class 66 locos (based on the SD70M I believe) Apparently the autoballasters can be remotely controlled and have proved very successful during the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. So much so that even the French are impressed :D :D

Thanks John, what an impressive train! But they will now have to change the railtrack name!

Don't those 66's look good in Freightliner colours [IMG]

    Yes Alan.
I wonder how many millions of pounds will be wasted re-branding Railtrack. I agree the 66's look really good in Freightliner livery.
Here's another photo taken last Friday on the other line that runs near to our house. It's an empty LPG train returning from Stanlow refinery (where I used to work) to Humberside.

    Take care,

I am building my last Gauge 1 locomotive for a customer. It is a class 66, which was going to be in EWS livery, but he has decided it will look better in Freightliner, and I agree. [IMG]
