Recently, the ACRR purchased 3 Bi-Level Commuter cars from the Grand Valley Railroad. After an exchange of emails, President Johnathan Edwards of the GVR shipped these cars, oringinally made by the Con-Cor Transit Corporation to the ACRR for use in commuter service. At the present time, ACRR President and CEO Jeff Shearier says the railroad will be replacing the trucks under the cars, but then put them into immediate revenue service. They will probably be repainted at some point in the future, but exactly when is undetermined at this time. For more pictures check the press release on my web page, link listed below. Nice So is this going to handle all your commuter traffic? Liked your site too. But your two fisherman, are they not to close to the falls
Thanks Railery, The river continues, beyond the layout, just like the trains. My greatest concern for the fishermen is that the trains crossing the bridge will scare the fish away. However, because I am personally aquainted with these two fishermen, I know they pick that spot because of two things: 1) They like to railfan as they fish. 2) Near this bridge is the location of the delicious "trestle catfish." Jeff,it is good to see the GVRR's excess passenger cars being put to good use.I'm sure your road will get many good years of service from these cars.
It's good to see that there is an interest to run passenger equipment on your layout Jeff. What's the min radius those cars will handle?
Robin, I believe that these will handle a rather tight radius, 11" or less. However, with the new layout, I have a minimum radius of 15" on the branch and 22" on the main. The passenger depot in Augsburg is located on the branch. I have now got the MT conversion trucks for two of the three cars (Guess Caboose Hobbies only had 2 sets, not 3). Better pictures will be coming soon. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) http://www.pegnsean.net/~revnjeff
