I´m building Bakersfield and Mojave. I need photos of turntable, sandhouse watertower. I have photos of Roundhouse but it`s hard to find photos from turntable watertower sandhouse and so on from Mojave I hope someone can help me! DanGoran
First of all, welcome to Trainboard. I once lived down there in the Mojave area and don't remember ever seeing a turntable or roundhouse. What era are your modeling? I'm sure someone here will be of help, Dan.
Thank you very much! I´m glad to be here. On page 46 in Southern Pacific-Santa Fe written by John R Signor you can find the wooden eight-stall Roundhouse, and drawing over the old Santa Fe yard with Roundhouse. The Roundhouse roof burn 1915 and 1920 an new four-stall engine house was built without turntable. My era are 1910 to 1950. Many years era because I like the old big steam articulated, cab forward and so on. 1915 on Mojave, Santa Fe yard was used of both Santa Fe and Southern Pacific with big Tehachapi Helpers.
From south end of Mojave yard to Kern Jct. Santa Fe only had trackage rights so doubtful they had their own facilities in Mojave. They would have used SP's. Checking www.historicaerials.com shows only a 2005 aerial but all the USGS topo maps show only a wye & no turntable/engine house.
