I was fortunate to capture the only 3 they had (on loan/lease) from GE...caught them in San Bernardino,Ca at the depot...I guess this model did not catch on with the rest of the locomotive buying public...these units were scrapped only 11 yrs after these pics were taken. I think most railroads still had a phobia of high horsepower, 4 axle units. NS tried out the C39's and liked them well and ended up with a bunch more GE's Nice photos, by the way! Harold
