Hi friends Here's a updated photo of my on going 3751 4-8-4 project. I have a couple of minor details to add before the model contest later this month. http://members.aol.com/DAYLIGHT99/3751.jpg
Bob, that's N scale? Wow! What detail. I am not a modeler but chase and ride the 3751 whenever possible. I don't know what era you are running on your pike, but historically the stack extension is correct. The restoration does not have it. Great work! Here she was last month at Grand Canyon.
AWESOME work as always Bob! How does it run? If it runs anything like it looks it will be "as good as it gets" in N. Your referring to that N scale meet at Belmont Shores club house later this month right? I'm thinking of entering stuff into the contest as well, the question is what??!? Keep up the great work!
Details? What locomotive is it based on? How did you do that? I envy modelers who can build steam locomotives like that, I stick to kitbashing diesels. Brian
This model started out as a stock Hallmark 3751 class Northern which had many incorrect details for the 3751. The model had to be stripped and alot of the boiler detail needed to be removed or replaced, the valve gear also needed rebuilding. The stock motor was replaced with a larger Mashima but the stock drive was smooth so I let it alone. She has a LE101 decoder in the cab for the drive control and a Soundtraxx DSX along with two oval speakers in the tender for sound. This is an everyday runner and with the extra weight added to the boiler she can pull 20 Heavyweight passenger cars rather easy. At the contest later this model I will bring along a small layout to operate this model on along with a couple of other sound equipped models I have.
