Hey there, I've been doing some research on the different runs of the Atlas Train Master. According to Atlas' website the first two runs had smaller number boards and a different headlight placement than the runs after them. I do have an early run version, but if anyone has both an old and new run version could you take a side by side comparison of the boards and headlights? If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it!
There are (as I remember) three phases of trainmasters that Atlas has released (I believe all three were released at the same time). Phase 1 A-Single headlight. w/large number boards (undec 49514) Phase 1 B, single headlight, w/large number boards (undec 49544) Phase 2, single headlight, w/large number boards (undec 49568) Phase 1a units had their air intake louvers located in a continuous line along the top of the long hood, and a wide separating strip between the radiator fans; Phase 1b modifications were minor, consisting only of a "dip" in the long hood handrails that allowed them to better follow the profile of the side walkways; Phase 2 units boasted fewer air intake louvers, with large gaps separating them (the radiators themselves were divided by only a tiny metal strip).
