Well, i was finally able to get a decoder in my atlas track cleaner last night after remembering to pick one up at the plano, texas train show. worked great until it started to go around a curve. looked at it and checked all of my wires to decoder. all was great there. by the way i used a DZ125 just to let you know. this was about 1:30 in the morning i started having these problems. i said forget it and went to bed. got up this morning and got to looking and found out that one of my wheel sets had broken. the wheel had was actually spinning on the axle. it kept causing the cleaner to short when it went around a curve. the way i have it now is just found some spare wheels and put them on and basically disconnected that wheel set. seems to work just fine, just curious if this can cause any problems later on? i checked on the atlas website and could not find any spare parts for this.

Well at least you were able to get it running.

That why I like the Tony's CMX+ track cleaning car. It has to be pulled by two Atlas Trainmasters to get it going due to the fact that the track cleaning car weighs eight ounces.

Were you able to run it on DC before installing a decoder. BTW, this Atlas car will run on DC if you keep your track voltage 12 volts or less.

The motor will burn out if the track voltage is greater than 12 volts.

i had run it once before on my little oval test track for DC. no problem then. but like i said it had been sitting for almost two years, no telling what might have happened to it. i run digitrax zephyr so my track voltage was more than 12 volts. i like it better on DCC because i can control the speed of the vac, and the discs.
