Just curious- For the recent Atlas steel cupola cabooses, has anyone here tried converting the Rapido coupler version to Micro-Trains? If so, what MT kit did you use? Any difficulties encountered?

MT 1111 is the one you'll be needing. The modifications are just a little filing of the MT coupler box insert before it will fit, this the same insert that Atlas uses on the factory installed ones. At least according to MT. [IMG]

Unfortunately when these came out, my wallet was not in sync with their hitting the hobby shop shelves. (House payment or trains. Hmm. Which wins?) So far, the only ones I can find now, are Rapido equipped. Still looking around. But now I know that at least I can go the conversion route if need be.

    Thanks for the info!

Geez, and here I've been buying M-T trucks & couplers to get around that step! I may have to do the file & fit routine, if only to keep from changing out the "pizza-cutter" M-T wheels.

I'm one of those who has gone with, and likes the body mount method. I do snip off the majority of the trip pin. When operating, I walk around with a Rix pick, and do the work.

But I have yet to do anything about pizza cutter wheels. Everything is still equipped that way, and no troubles when I last had a layout. I weight all my cars and gauge wheels. Probably have to do that swap one of these days. But it's way down the list right now.
