Does anybody know if Atlas ever made a low hood version of their RSD12. I coulda swore I saw em years and years ago but no one can confirm. Atlas says they don't have any but didn't confirm whether or not they ever did. I'm looking for a shell if anybodys got one. Thanks

John, I think you are confusing the RSD12 with the RSD15. Atlas never made a low hood version of the RSD12, and Alco didn't either. But, Model Power did import an RSD15 in both high hood and low hood versions. This was a Yugoslavian-made model that was about the same quality as the Yugo automobile! The RSD15 was slightly longer than the RSD12, so the shell would not work on the Atlas mechanism.

    Thanks,
I have several of the RSD15s. I'm extremely familiar with the differences and wouldn't want to try putting a 15 shell on a 12. My friend has a highhood Atlas RSD12 and we wanted to make it low hood for the SP. I didn't want to try a nose chop job but may have to. Either that or since everything is exactly like an RS11 but with C-C trucks, we're going to take spare RS11 trucks and make another highhood RS11 out of it. But like I said, I coulda swore I'd seen lowhooded RSD12s somewhere long ago in a galaxy far far away... I could very well be wrong but am once and for all trying to put a rest to this issue in my head. :D
