Am seeking info on the Atlas RS-11 issued in Northern Pacific paint. I know they've had more than one run. But the only two loco numbers that I can recall are 910, and 911. Didn't they use a couple of different numbers? 901? 903?

I dunno what numbers they issued them in but my first N scale loco was a 1987 RS-11 in BN! #4185. I traded it for a BN SD60M...
At any rate, BN rostered only 18 total, NP 900-917. BN 4180-4197, info courtesy of the BN Photo Archives . You could custom-paint one!

Do you mean Atlas or NP?

If it is Atlas, according the the N-scale Loco database, NP was only done in their second run (#'s 910 & 911 in black/yellow).

BTW, the second run was made in China, and not by Kato.

You can look over the database at: http://home.cfl.rr.com/dawestern/nscale/nscale.html

    Hope this helps.

I've only seen 910 and 911 since I started N scale in '85. They came with a horrible mechanism without flywheels, but I ressurected one of mine (910) with a Kato RS-2 Mechanism.
The other one (911) has broken handrails (those delrin handrails lose their slippery texture and turn stiff and fragile after 15 years or so) I need to make some new handrails out of phosphor-bronze wire and put the shell on another RS-2 drive.

    Are you AKA "rmdive70" BoxcabE50?

:D Hey BoxcabE50, I just realised your Trainboard member number is an NP U25C number, another model that has never been made in N-Scale. [IMG]

    I hacked one from a U25B:

I was thinking that Atlas had done a second "release" of the RS-11, by assembling from parts on hand. They did that once, if I recall(?), with the first RS3.

    Robert-

I hadn't noticed my number being correct. I've certainly slipped up on that, as I would dearly love to have some NP U25C's........

    Yup. That's me. (From NPM)

The classic RS3 mech. is a direct swap for an RS11, even the fuel tank fits. It sure runs sweet.

I wish I knew about the RS-3 before I bought RS-2's for my RS-11's, the fuel tank don't fit well in the RS-2.

I put a Life-Like GP-20 mechanism under mine and it is now a thing of beauty, never stalling on turnouts. It runs very well now in tandem with my Arnold S-2.
