    Tissue paper!

Years ago I would redo the whole truck with new delrin wheels and kadee coupler kits. It was tedious, but well worth the look and savings in money. After removing a truck once, it seemed like the pins did not want to be as useful anymore. My fix was to tear a small piece of tissue paper and set it over the pin hole between the car and truck. Then I would push the pin in and they never came out. Now years later I still have some of those original cars and the trucks are still in place.

Speaking for myself, I hate truck pins and replace them with screws the first chance I get. In most cases, I use 2-56 flathead screws, 3/16" length.

The only caveat is that using screws enlarges the holes in the bolsters where they'll be too large to keep the truck pins in place should you decide to switch back to truck pins.

Thanks for the screw size. I picked some up on a clearance sale, but the size I got turned out way to big. I found some gorilla glue for plastic repair in my shop that I don’t even remember what for and tried it. I didn’t like it much because it needs water to activate it and took 12 hrs to dry so I only did a couple of cars. It seems to be working and I don’t know if I’ll be able to get it apart again so I don’t think I’ll recommend it.

I haven’t run any trains since it warmed up outside and have been doing outside work almost every moment since so I don’t know if it’s still holding. I wish I lived in a wetter climate because I used to love being inside on rainy days. Now I have to wait till winter when it’s too cold.
