Steve: I agree about the quality. I bought a pair of these in CP colors,and decoders installed. I have yet(2 weeks) been able to change the address. From what I hear on another site these Atlas/Lenz decoders leave a lot to desire. Woz
The paint is very unlike Atlas, Steve. I suggest contact them and ask what the resolution process could be. As for the Atlas decoders, I have an older SD60 with a decoder that refuses to do other than it wants. I really need to get deeper into the programming to see if I can beat it. BTW, discussion I had a couple of months back mentioned that the Lenz decoders may be dropped in favour of another manufacturers' drop in decoder. Hopefully it will be a full featured replacement.
Very Poor paint I checked them out at the hobby shop in Edmonton on the weekend . I must say the CN unit where not to bad . Yes send them back. Atlas has also made in very difficult to get complete body shell kits as well Dave
Years ago Atlas had a bad paint job on their SD50 EMD leasing unites and they exchanged the shell for free. Just ask them so your sure you get the new ones if they already have some.
I also agree that the paint is sub standard, it looks like the paint process was faulty on these engines. I have some of the original Atlas SD60's in the Oakway scheme, the paint peeled off the nose on both of them. I emailed to Atlas & they sent out 2 x new decorated shells at no cost. I was was very happy with the service. In relation to the decoders, I have had problems with the Lenz decoders & now never order atlas models with the pre installed lenz decoders. It is easy to instal digitrax pnp decoders.
