Earlier today, I had two different people tell me that there is now an Atlas Northern Pacific Railway RS3 available.

I've looked all over the 'Net. And have found no mention so far of this loco. Have I been misled? Or does someone out there know of a place I find find out more about this?

I have never seen one. Maybe they mean the RS1, which came out recently. I just painted up an older Atlas RS3 in NP, and had been doing extensive searches to find pictures. I would think it would have shown up with as extensive of searches i did.

    Robert-

I have to agree that someone was mis-reading my inquiry. It must the RS1 that they were confusing.

    Any news on the caboose?

I think Atlas may have released an NP RS3 in one of their first releases about 10-12 years ago. I'm pretty sure they did in HO, and they probably did in N also. If any are still available, you will only find them on eBay or some other auction site, or at a train show with vendors selling lots of used items.

I have representatives of all those NP locos you listed Ken, and have additionally bashed or painted up:

RS-3 bashed from an RSD4/5 shell and U25B Trucks
    U25C bashed from a U25B and RSD4/5 Trucks
U33C bashed from a Hallmark Brass U33C Shell with a Kato U30C Mechanism
Lowey F7's out of Kato GN F7's
    0-8-0 G2 Class out of a Specreum 2-8-0
2-8-2 W3 Class out of a Kato Mike

As for the Caboose Project, I could not find a smokejack, so I mase a brass master and casted a couple. Very poor castings, because I have not learned enough about casting yet. The master is soldered scale brass tubing, and came out very very nice though. I just applied decals to the rev 3 and rev 4 models, so by tomorrow I should have them finished.

On a more promising note, I feel the rev 4 model warrants a new digital camera, because my 1M Pixel just won't show the model well enough. :D

    Pat-

I do recall they released the RS3 in the wrong scale...

I have been searching more through the 'Net, and can't find any reference to N scale NP in this model. I checked a known database as well. If you happen to find any further info, please let me know!

Did you ever hear back from Micro-Trains?

Keep us posted on how things are going. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos!

Well, to tell you the truth, I have to paint it still. I painted over the original Penn Central paint, but it was too thick so I stripped it and have not repainted it yet. Runs fine though and the shell fits fine.

I finished my rev 3 and rev 4 24' Cabooses today. I'll post another topic for them.
