Does anyone know if the most recent run of the Atlas GP-7's are DCC ready, and if they are, what the correct decoder would be? Thanks!
The new Atlas GP-7's aren't DCC ready. The GP-7 uses the old Atlas GP-7 frame. That goes for the GP-9's as well. You can mill the frame and install a Lenz 511 or 521W in the loco. Stay cool and run steam....
Thanks. I didn't think they were decoder ready, but in going through a box of stuff I found some Burlington GP-7's from the 2001 run. The box says on the side "decoder ready". I guess they had a different idea at the time of what decoder ready meant.
SRS: Here is a photo of an Atlas GP-7 with the decoder installed. THis was taken from a file at Litchfield Station. The frame was milled to install the decoder. Stay cool and run steam.....
