I have a C420 Atlas Gold Loco. When throttle gets up past 50% it gets real jumpy, takes off to full speed, then almost stops, then takes off, then stops. Each cycle takes about a second so this happens real fast. I have reset it to factory defaults but it still does it. Any ideas?
Even though it might be fairly new still check the wheels for them being clean, then I would go to the contacts and make sure they are making good contact. Sounds like something minor. Just take your time.
Do you think it could be something in the programming like the BEMF? It seems like too consistent of a thing for it to be a contact problem. Its a constant and steady vroom.sloow..vroom..sloww..vroom..slow..vroom..
Have you tried it on Standard throttle or only on Regulated. On Standard throttle the Bemf and other settings should not work. You might also try it on DC only. Bob
What DCC system are you using? If you have the locomotive on a second throttle, it could be trying to read the settings from both throttles. I have noticed some of my QSI engines tend to surge a bit, but nothing as extreme as you describe.
