Atlas is offering their decorated shells for sale on their website. The have both N and H0 scale and the listing seems to change all the time. The N scale shells are 18 US$ each. It appears to include handrails and glass. No fuel tank or trucks. The N scale that I remember are: GP38 GP40 GP40-2 GP7 (three pages of these) GP9 SD50 SD60 SD60M In H0 scale (35 US$): C424 C425 RSD12 U23B RS11 Not affiliated; just some info.
Awesome, just ordered a BNSF H2 sd60m :tb-biggrin: this is gonna save me having to paint the undec shell I bought.
Impressive Service!!! I ordered 3 SOO Line shells on the 9th June, 2 x SD60M and a SD60; I've just collected them from the Post Office this morning - would've had them yesterday if anyone had been at home when the Postman tried to deliver. Kudos to Atlas and USPS; US to UK in 3 days  And also a big 'Thank You' to Flash; without your post I would've missed out on these.
thanks for the input sundowner. I'll try look at time to times just in case kato sells decorated shells.
looks like they come with couplers too? I found a couple descriptions that say "rapido coupler".. but do the others come with the accumates?
They come with whatever they were putting on them when the shells were done. If ou are looking for a shell you know was done after Accumates were introduced, it's likely they'll be on them.
I just checked, and Kato does have a selection of decorated shells. They are mixed in with the other parts, you have to search and find them. Here's a link to that area of their website: Kato USA: Precision Railroad Models
2 SOO SD60M shells and a SOO SD60 shell cost me US$10, which worked out at £6.41 Mine came with Rapidos, so would agree with bnsf971 as to which coupler you get. I've swapped the Rapidos for the Accumates fitted on my original NS SD60M shells - I'll just swap them back again if needed, but at present I think my NS shells can be classified as retired.
The light cover for an SD60M is different than the one for the SD50/60. You can order the one for the 60M off the website when ordering an SD60M shell in N scale locomotive spare parts section. Other than that the SD50, 60 and 60M shells fit the same mechanism. If I remember correctly, the only external difference is the number of doors between and SD50 and SD60.
First, you are going to need some plutonium and a Delorean. Next, set your flux capacitor to June 2009 and accelerate up to 88 mph...
Old thread but I swear I recently saw them there. I think they just changed their website around and now I don't see them either. Searching under "decorated shells" isn't producing anything either. I suspect they are still there....somewhere.
