I've asked this before but I've forgot where(?)

How easy/difficult is it to install a decoder in the ATLAS C424 (HO Scale) ?

    Thx

If it is the July 2002 run it has a 8 pin plug.

Look at the Digitrax selection guide.
    http://www.digitrax.com/decsel.php

    Atlas HO C424, C425
    Premium DH163K0, DH163IP,
    Economy DH123PS, DZ123PS

    I put a DH163IP in a SD24
    and a U30C, worked well.

It was a little tricky getting the shells off.
Be careful, I broke the handrail on the SD24.

If it does have an eight pin plug, Lenz has HO decoders with an eight pin plug to fit the Atlas C424.

Digitrax also has decoders with eight pin plugs as well.

    MLW:

Atlas loco's in most scales are plugN'play installations of decoders.

Sometimes the plugN'play decoder does't properly contact the copper motor leads of the loco and then it's necessary to hardwire the plugNplay decoder to the motor leads of the loco.

That isn't hard to do and will insure that the decoder works properly.

It's done. I got the Atlas C424 and the Decoder. It was a "snap" to install. Thanks again for all the feedback
