Did anyone see Atlas' announcement for their new B30-7 and B36-7 locos??? You can see it at: http://www.atlasrr.com/highlights/nb30-7&b36-7.asp Harold
Got a notice thru email from ATLAS. Darn more locomotives to buy <marquee>North American Rail Alliance</marquee>
I saw it first thing this morning, and called Pacific Scale Rail in New Westminster to let them know. I asked Jerry if John had ordered the B.C. Rail B36-7's yet and he told me that when he asked John about them, everyone's jaws hit the floor at once. Glad to see some more great products coming from Atlas. My only concern is that everything seems to be hitting the stores in October, give or take a month and the modelers only have a limited amount of money to spend. Happy Modeling. Cheers! Terry
Lord be praised....lol.... wrong era. I think I'm beginning to like this "modeling an era thing." Guess I don't need to buy it.
Just in case anyone is interested in modeling the high nose versions (NS and ex-Southern) of these units here is an email message I recently sent to the N list at Yahoo....... ********** The first run of these new models are all of the low nose variety. Until and unless Atlas releases a high nose version you would probably have to kitbash them using the cab/high nose from the Atlas B23-7. Part Number 497704 B23-7 Body Shell Assm - High Hood/Thin Pilot - 2 Window Undecorated $14.00 ******** Also, see this page: http://www.atlasrr.com/highlights/nb237.asp Once there, scroll down to see the NS and Southern high nose model photos of the B23-7. ********** Here are some proto photo links SOU B30-7A (5 shots) http://southern.railfan.net/images/archive/southern/b30/b30.html ******* NS3515 B30-7A http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/ns3515.jpg ******* Here is the Southern roster info: http://southern.railfan.net/loco_roster.htm SOU 3500-3521 22 units B30-7A SOU 3815-3820 6 units labeled as "GE U36-7" which is a contradiction in terms I believe. When GE introduced the Dash 7 series, they also dropped the "U" prefix ********** The NS roster is here: http://www.ohio.net/~ctoth/ns-rost.html NS 3500-3521 22 units B30-7A NS 3815-3820 6 units B36-7 ********** I did find one photo of NS3816 here http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/ns3816.jpg eN(S)joy Don B [ 30 June 2001: Message edited by: dbn160 ]

So yes, you do need to buy it Happy Railroading! Dane [ 04 July 2001: Message edited by: BC Rail King ]
Only two units (3606/3613) made it in to the Red/White/Blue modern lighting bolt scheme, so if you are into prototype modelling of BC Rail, and you were to get more than one it would actually be more representitive of the fleet to get 3 Santa Fe units to 1 BC Rail unit, as that is about what the ratio is on the the BCR. Most of the units until the date of rebuild reatined that Santa Fe on the nose, the Santa Fe #, the onlt thing changed was the painting out of the Santa Fe on the side of the units. (PS- This is how the BCR all blue paint scheme got its start ) Three units are still in their un-rebuilt condition, although to the best of my knowledge they are in storage in Prince George. BC Rail owns 15 of these units, and hopes to have them all retired by next summer OR start to use them for switching. Happy Railroading! Dane
Hopefully, the GP38's are an example.... the high nosed versions are not run until the low nosed versions are complete Harold
