Only problem I have is that when they are redesigning a chassis, why couldn't they have made it DCC ready?

Cool. I'd like to have a few of the non-dynamic undecs. Now all I need is some money.....

Non dynamic? Why would a Milwaukee modeler as yourself want non dynamic units?

Well, staying with the prototype, there were no dynamic braked Milw SD9 units. They did have four DB SD7. All the rest of their SD7 and 9 fleet was non DB.

Seems strange at first. But these units were primarily assigned to branches that for the most part didn't need DB equipped locos.

These have to be one of my favourite locos. Got a few of them and just scored a s/h unit for doing Soo's one and only SD9.

I hope they run as well as the old Kato-built units do.

ATLAS has no need to redesign the SD9 chassis. They allready have one with plug-n-play decoder capacity. The SD35 is a purrfect fit.

This is a lousey pic but it is of M&O SD9 #1945 a GVR subciderary(SP) line based in Ohio.

It consists of a complete ATLAS/KATO body shell on one ATLAS SD35 chassis. If I can do this so can ATLAS :D

OK, so all I need then is the SD9 shell and an SD35 chassis, and lately the SD35's have been on sale cheap all over.

This is VERY good new...I already swapped one SD35 with a GP 38 shell, so I can just do it with an SD9 shell. YEA!!!!!

Atlas has to at least say that they are going to redesign the chassis to justify the huge jump in price from their last release. ;)

Jeff,if you order the SD9 shell I suggest that you also order the fueltank which may require some modification to fit the SD35 chassis.

Russ,I think that the slow speed motor ,frictionless trucks, and inflation plus over 10 years since the last release may justify the price increase somewhat. Not to mention the Golden White LEDs ( [IMG] ) and closed pilots.

You are correct Johnathan. I am just griping because there is so much locomotive now a days and so little extra modeling money ;)

Atlas does have to be the best that it has ever been. I still can't believe it, looking at some of my ancient one-truck powered Model Power stuff, that we've come this far!!
