Atlas announced that they will be using a new motor in their N scale locomotives starting with the GP 38. The new motor will have the same dimensions as the prior motor but will operate at lower rpm's. It will be possible to use the new motor to repower older engines. Bottom line is lower top speed and smoother low speed operation.
