What is everyone's thoughts on these from Athearn? I own all Kato and Atlas engines for the most part. How will these stack up? thanks

Bill - that's the question of the day, eh? I also own only Kato and Atlas (oh yea, and some IM tunnel motors) - and I'm taking a chance and have pre-ordered a couple SP SD70Ms. This is my all time favorite locomotive, and I don't want to wait until I'm old and gray before Kato does it (if ever)!

When are these supposed to be coming out ? Some of the pics I saw from the show the railings were awful thick non scale looking. Anybody else pick up on this ?
Will do - and you're right Jerry, the loop will give them a workout - just like the real SP SD70M's on the I-5 corridor! Hopefully they will get the handrails right - and the ones you saw were just preproduction. I can't imagine them screwing those up, if Kato, LL, Atlas, and IM can get them right (well, IM gets them kinda correct I guess. . . . )
